And now, with students of 54 different nationalities and faculty/staff from 18 countries, YIS is the definition of internationalism, the centrepiece of their value.

Campus

The new campus is built on a 14,685m² greenfield site in Kominatocho, Naka-ku, Yokohama, which is adjacent to the big shopping complex and the Police Station. The campus consists of a 4 storey North Building that houses the library, cafeteria, performing arts centre and most of the classroom areas and administrative offices, and a 3 storey South Building that houses the Early Learning Centre and PE facilities, including a double gymnasium and indoor swimming pool.

Community

Community

And it affords their entire learning community, a wide array of opportunities to explore, develop and challenge themselves within a caring and exciting learning environment. Students can avail themselves of the school's top class athletics, arts, service learning, outdoor education and Japanese culture programs to complement their academics choices. The campus is designed for learning, and allows individuals to forge their own path in a collaborative environment while living their mission of Live, Learn, Lead.

Learning

Learning

YIS offers a well-balanced education with opportunities for students to excel in many different areas, and enquiry based instruction where their interests and passions are recognised and respected. And it encourages students to try connect what they learn inside the classroom to what they do outside school by exploring questions that arise from their curiosity. Being a mid-size school where it is large enough to offer a wide range of academic and extracurricular opportunities yet small enough so that everyone knows each other. Small classes enable students to address individual needs, and teachers to support a range of learning styles while still maintaining its small school feel and strong sense of community and culture
